The charging system consists of: Battery StatorAlternator RectifierRegulator The rectifierregulator is responsible for converting AC voltage to DC voltageDo not allow the battery cables to become disconnected with the engine runningFollow the steps below as outlined to reduce the chance of damage to electrical components12345Verify the battery is fully charged and in good conditionWith the engine running, connect the multimeter to the positive and negative battery terminalsTest for Vdc with the multimeterThe meter display should read approximately 14.014.4 Vdc at idleIf the voltage is lower than 14.014.4 Vdc, the alternator should be tested
