FINAL DRIVE 13Rotate bearing by hand and check for smooth rotationVisually inspect bearing for moisture, dirt, or corrosionNOTE: Due to extremely close tolerances and minimal wear, the bearings must be inspected visually, and by feelWhile rotating bearings by hand, inspect for rough spots, discoloration, or corrosionThe bearings should turn smoothly and quietly, with no detectable up and down movement and minimal movement sideways between inner and outer race14Replace bearing if moisture, dirt, corrosion, or roughness is evidentBearing Installation 4Thoroughly clean the front bearing carrier housing and the outer race on the new bearingBe sure that all oil residue has been removed from each surfaceSupport the bottom of the bearing carrier housingUse an arbor and press only on the outer race or bearing damage may occur6Apply Loctite 603TM retaining compound to the outer circumference of the new bearing race and carefully press the new bearing into the bearing carrier housing
