MAINTENANCE Idle Speed Adjustment
The carburetor idle speed strongly influences the starting performance and engine responsiveness when acceleratingIf idle speed does not meet specification, use the following procedure to make adjustments: NOTE: Adjusting the idle speed affects throttle cable freeplay and electronic throttle control (ETC) adjustmentAlways check throttle cable freeplay after adjusting idle speed and adjust if necessary12Start engine and warm it up thoroughlyAdjust idle speed by turning the idle speed adjustment screw in (clockwise) to increase or out (counterclockwise) to decrease RPMIdle Speed Screw To remove the ETC cover: 123Use medium flat blade screwdriver and insert blade into the pocket of the cover starting on the #1 position Twist screwdriver slightly while lifting on the cover to release snapRepeat procedure at the other five locations as shown2 1

NOTE: Do not attempt to remove cover until all latch points are released
