FINAL DRIVE 45Set the gearcase uprightBack the adjustment screw out while rotating the pinion shaftThe pinion shaft should rotate freely during four complete rotationsThe four pinion shaft rotations ensures that the ring gear completes one full rotation4Install the vent lineFront Gearcase Mounting Bolts: 6If tight spot is felt during rotation, loosen the backlash adjustment screw further and repeat pinion shaft rotationRepeat this procedure until the pinion shaft rotates smoothly four complete times (1 revolution of ring gear)Connect the AWD wire harness
Gearcase Installation
1Install the gearcase back into the vehicle through the LH wheel well area, between the upper and lower A-armsRefer to "FRONT DRIVE SHAFTDrive Shaft Installation" and install both front drive shafts into the front gearcaseAdd the proper lubricant to the front gearcaseRefer to Chapter for fluid fill and change information23
