CLUTCH SYSTEM 7Install clutch offset spacer(s) on transmission input shaft
Drive Belt RemovalInspection
1Remove outer PVT cover as described in PVT DisassemblyMark drive belt direction of rotation so that it can be installed in the same directionThe belt is normally positioned so part numbers are easily readTo remove drive belt, place transmission in gear, apply brake, pull upward on belt while turning the back (moveable) driven sheave clockwise to open driven clutch sheaves and pull the belt down into the drivenPull out and down on belt to slip over the drive clutch outer sheave

3Clean splines inside driven clutch and on the transmission input shaft9Apply light film of grease to the splines on the shaft10Install the driven clutch, washer, lock washer, and retaining boltTorque to specification
Driven Clutch Retaining Bolt Torque: 17 ftlbs(23.5 Nm) 11Clean end of taper on crankshaft and the taper bore inside drive clutch12Install drive clutch and torque retaining bolt to specification4Measure belt width and replace if wornGenerally, belts should be replaced if clutches can no longer be adjusted to provide proper belt deflectionNOTE: If the top edges are trimmed on some drive belts, it will be necessary to project the side profiles in order to measure from corner-to-corner56Place straight edge on each side of the drive beltPlace another straight edge on top of beltMeasure the distance where the side straight edges intersect the top, as shown in the illustrationProjected Belt Width
