ENGINE 7Repeat procedure for remaining valvesWhen all valves are installed, tap lightly with soft faced hammer on the end of the valves to seat the split keepersNOTE: To prevent damage to the valve seals, do not compress the valve spring more than necessary to install the keepers
Valve Lifter RemovalInspection
123Remove the valve lifter's by reaching into the crankcase and pushing the lifter up through the lifter bore by handThoroughly clean the lifters in cleaning solvent and wipe them with clean lint-free clothMark the lifters with white pen if using the lifters for reassemblyThis will ensure that the lifters are properly placed during engine reassembly
Valve Sealing Test
1Clean and dry the combustion chamber area (A)
Mark Hydraulic LifterPour small amount of clean solvent onto the intake port and check for leakage around each intake valveThe valve seats should hold fluid with no seepageRepeat for exhaust valves by pouring fluid into exhaust port
