ENGINE Piston Removal
By hand: Placing both thumbs as shown, spread the ring open and push up on the opposite sideDo not scratch the ring lands
11Remove circlipNote piston directional arrow pointing toward the right (Mag) side of engineRemove piston circlip and push piston pin out of pistonIf necessary, heat the crown of the piston slightly with propane torchRemove top compression ringRepeat procedure for second ring
The oil control ring is three piece design consisting of top and bottom steel rail and center expander sectionThe top rail has locating tab on the end which fits into notch (A) in the upper oil ring land of the piston45Remove the top rail first followed by the bottom railRemove the expander
