TRANSMISSION Transmission Shift Housing Disassembly
IMPORTANT: Shift housing repairs are not possible without performing transfer case disassemblyRead and understand all instructions before beginning disassembly1Verify transmission is in neutralRemove the (7) shift housing case screws from the front of the transmission and (2) from the backside as shown2Place the transmission shift housing onto flat surface as shownLift the transmission case half straight up and remove
NOTE: Shaft components may "catch" during transmission case half disassemblyWork slowly and deliberately to avoid component loss or damage3Using suitable tool, pry the reverse retaining plate up from the (2) roll pins and remove the reverse clutchgear assembly from the housingNote the orientation of the (2) thrust washers (topbottom of gear assembly) and needle bearingInspect these components and replace as required
