TRANSMISSION 8After removing the cover, remove the intermediate shaft bearing cup and shims from the coverBearing cup is slip-fitNote and record the number and thickness of shims and set asideAlso note the two alignment dowels (circle) in the cover for installation10Remove the intermediate pinion shaft assembly from the housingCheck bearings and gear teeth for wear or damage and replace as neededThe shaft can be disassembled as shown using press and standard bearing removal tools
NOTE: Record the number and thickness of shims for reassemblyDisassemble the cover as required, replacing components that are failed or wornCheck bearings for wear or damage and replace as needed using press and standard bearing removal toolsDiscard removed bearings as they become damaged by the removal process
