ENGINE Piston Removal
1Remove circlip (A)Mark the piston with white pen to ensure proper orientation (if reused) during assemblyThe oil control ring is three piece design consisting of top and bottom steel rail and center expander sectionThe top rail has locating tab on the end which fits into notch (B) in the upper oil ring land of the pistonTo Remove: A) Remove the top rail first followed by the bottom railB) Remove the expanderCompression Rings Oil Ring B

NOTE: If the pistons are to be reused, reassemble the pistons in the same cylinder and direction from which they were removedNOTE: New pistons are non-directional and can be placed in either cylinder2Remove piston circlip and push piston pin out of pistonIf necessary, heat the crown of the piston slightly with propane torchCAUTION: Do not apply heat to the piston ringsThe ring may lose radial tensionRemove top compression ring:
