MAINTENANCE Engine Breather Hose Inspection
The engine is equipped with breather hoseInspect the breather hose for possible kinks or wearThe hose is form fitted for proper fitFollow the breather hose from the side of the airbox to the engine valve coverA smooth idle generally indicates good compressionLow engine compression is rarely factor in running condition problems above idle speedA cylinder leakdown test is the best indication of engine conditionFollow manufacturer's instructions to perform cylinder leakage test (never use high pressure leakage testers, as crankshaft seals may dislodge and leak)Cylinder Compression Standard: 150-200 PSI Cylinder Leakdown Service Limit 15 (Inspect for cause if test exceeds 15)

Do not clean spark arrestor immediately after the engine has been run, as the exhaust system becomes very hotSerious burns could result from contact with the exhaust componentsAllow components to cool sufficiently before proceedingWear eye protection and glovesNever run the engine in an enclosed areaExhaust contains poisonous carbon monoxide gas that can cause loss of consciousness or death in very short timePeriodically clean the spark arrestor to remove accumulated carbon1234Remove the retaining screw and remove the arrestor from the end of the mufflerUse non-synthetic brush to clean the arrestor screenA synthetic brush may melt if components are warmInspect the screen for wear and damageReplace if neededReinstall the arrestor and torque the screw to 5-7 ftlbs(7-9 Nm)Arrestor LH Mount RH Mount Screen
