ELECTRICAL STARTER SYSTEM TESTING FLOW CHART
Condition: Starter motor fails to turn over the engineWith the tester on the VDC position, place the tester's black lead on the battery negative and the red lead on the battery positiveReading should be 12.4 volts or greaterYes Check voltage on both sides of the fuse or, circuit breaker, key switch and OffRun switchThe voltage reading on both sides should be the sameNOTE: The OffRun switch must be on, vehicle in neutral or brake depressed and the key switch turned to the "Start" positionReplace the defective componentRemove battery and properly serviceInstall fully charged shop battery to continue test
Disconnect WhiteRed and Blue wires from the starter solenoidConnect the black meter lead to the Blue wire and the red meter lead to WhiteRed harness wire at solenoidPlace transmission in neutral and turn the key switch to the "Start" positionMeter should read battery voltage
