BRAKES HAND MASTER CYLINDER
Removal
1Clean master cylinder and reservoir assemblyMake sure you have clean work area to disassemble brake componentsPlace shop towel or suitable catch container under the master cylinder brake line connectionRemove the banjo bolt fitting that connects the brake line to the master cylinderDiscard the copper washersMaster Cylinder 70 inlbs(8 Nm) Torque Bolt First NOTE: To speed up the brake bleeding procedure, the master cylinder can be purged of air before brake line is attachedFill with DOT Brake Fluid and pump lever slowly two to three times with finger over the outlet end to purge master cylinder of air2Place NEW sealing washers on each side of banjo line and torque banjo bolt to specification15 ftlbs(20 Nm) Sealing Washers NOTE: Some master cylinders are not serviceable and are replaced only as an assembly1Install master cylinder on handlebarsWhen tightening the clamp screws, torque the clamp screw furthest from the reservoir first, then torque the clamp screw closest to the reservoirTorque clamp screws to 70 inlbs(8 Nm)7 inlbs(.8 Nm)
