MAINTENANCE Throttle Operation
Check for smooth throttle opening and closing in all handlebar positionsThrottle lever operation should be smooth and lever must return freely without binding1234Place the gear selector in neutralSet parking brakeStart the engine and let it idleTurn handlebars from full right to full leftIf idle speed increases at any point in the turning range, inspect throttle cable routing and conditionIf cable is routed properly and in good condition, no adjustment is requiredReplace the throttle cable if worn, kinked, or damaged4With engine running, turn the handlebars from full left to full right with transmission in neutralEngine RPM should not change and the engine should not dieIf either of these occur, return to the first step
NOTE: If the throttle cable is adjusted too tight, the ETC will limit operation at low throttle positions
Choke (Enricher) Adjustment
Verify free play and smooth operation of choke cableAdjustments to the freeplay can be made by loosening the choke cable adjustment in or out to gain the desired freeplayElectronic Throttle Control Switch (ETC)Throttle Cable Adjustment
