Drive Chain Adjustment ("MXR""S")
1Loosen the two rear axle housing pinch boltsInsert pin punch into the rear axle housing
Drive Chain Tension CAUTION
Never adjust or operate the vehicle with the rear drive chain too loose or too tightSevere damage to the transmission and drive components can resultBREAK-IN: It is extremely important to maintain proper chain tension to ensure the best possible chain lifeThere is chain breakin period of approximately 100 miles or two (2) tanks of fuelDuring this time chain tension should be watched very closely and loads to the chain should be kept lightCHECKING CHAIN TENSION: Check the amount of chain slack by moving the vehicle slightly forward to remove slack at the top side of the chainSteps and should be used to check chain tension on "MXR" and "S" solid rear axle models12Collapse the rear suspension with trailer tie down strapFasten the strap around the axle and rear grab barTighten the strap until the axle, swing arm pivot, and counter shaft, are centered on single plain (this establishes the tightest chain position)At the center point of the top side of the chain there should be 14"38" (6-9 mm) deflection
