OPERATION Driving Safely
Driving Uphill
Whenever traveling uphill, follow these precautions: 1Always travel straight uphill2Avoid steep hills (25_ maximum)3Keep both feet on the footrests4Transfer your weight forward5Proceed at steady rate of speed and throttle opening6Remain alert and be 25_ Maximum prepared to take emergency actionThis may include quick dismounting of the vehicleIf all forward speed is lost: Keep your weight uphillApply the single lever brake, graduallyWhen fully stopped, apply the auxiliary brake as well, then lock the park brakeIf the ATV begins rolling backwards: Keep your weight uphillNever apply engine powerNever apply the auxiliary rear brake while rolling backwardsApply the single-lever brake, graduallyWhen fully stopped, apply the auxiliary rear brake as well, and then lock the parking brakeDismount on uphill side, or to either side if ATV is pointed straight uphillTurn the ATV around and remount, following the procedure described on page 55
