ENGINE NOTE: If replacing one of the gears, it is recommended that all of the gears be replacedA gear kit is available in the parts book11The cam gear assembly contains three loaded springsTo open the cam gear assembly: Place the cam gear on flat surface with the timing mark side facing upS While holding both gears together, lightly work small flathead screwdriver between the two gearsS Remove the top gearThe springs should stay in placeCAUTION: WEAR SAFETY GLASSES AT ALL TIMESUSE CAUTION WHEN WORKING WITH THE TOP GEARTHE SPRINGS COULD CAUSE INJURY OR BECOME LOST SHOULD THEY POP OUT12Remove all three springs using one of the tapered pins from the Tapered Pins (PU-45497-1)
Cam Gear Removal
9Use the Cam Gear Tooth Alignment Tool (PU-45497-2) (O) to align the cam split gear assemblyWith the split gear aligned, remove the bolt and cam gear assemblyPU-45497-2
