ENGINE 2Remove piston circlip and push piston pin out of pistonIf necessary, heat the crown of the piston slightly with propane torchCAUTION: Do not apply heat to the piston ringsThe ring may lose radial tension3Remove top compression ring: Using piston ring pliers: Carefully expand ring and lift it off the pistonCAUTION: Do not expand the ring more than the amount necessary to remove it from the piston, or the ring may breakBy hand: Placing both thumbs as shown, spread the ring open and push up on the opposite sideDo not scratch the ring lands
CYLINDER INSPECTION
1Remove all gasket material from the cylinder sealing surfaces2Inspect the top of the cylinder (B) for warpage using straight edge (A) and feeler gauge (C)Refer to Ill1 and Ill2A
