ELECTRICAL 56After connecting the battery cables, install the cover on the battery and attach the hold down strapInstall clear battery vent tube from vehicle to battery ventWARNING: Vent tube must be free from obstructions and kinks and securely installedIf not, battery gases could accumulate and cause an explosionVent should be routed away from frame and body to prevent contact with electrolyteAvoid skin contact with electrolyte, as severe burns could resultIf electrolyte contacts the vehicle frame, corrosion will occurRoute cables so they are tucked away in front and behind batteryNOTE: New Batteries: Batteries must be fully charged before use or battery life will be reduced by 10-30 of full potentialCharge battery for 3-5 hours at current equivalent of 110 of the battery's rated amphour capacityDo not use the alternator to charge new battery(Refer to Battery Activation and Maintenance video PN 9917987) NEVER attempt to add electrolyte or water to Low Maintenance batteryDoing so will damage the case and shorten the life of the batteryRefer to the Battery Maintenance Video (PN 9917987) for proper instruction on servicing Low Maintenance batteriesTo service Low Maintenance battery: 12Remove battery from the vehicleTest battery with voltage meter or load tester to determine battery conditionThis will determine the length of time required to charge the battery to full capacityRefer to capacity tableCharge battery using variable rate chargerLOW MAINTENANCE BATTERY
