MAINTENANCE 2Turn pilot screw in (clockwise) until lightly seatedTurn screw out the specified number of turnsNOTE: Do not tighten the pilot screw forcefully against the seat or the screw andor seat will be permanently damagedNOTE: Adjusting the idle speed affects throttle cable freeplayAlways check throttle cable freeplay after adjusting idle speed and adjust if necessary
Carburetor Draining (Carb Models)
The carburetor float bowl should be drained periodically to remove moisture or sediment from the bowl, or before extended periods of storageNOTE: The bowl drain screw is located on the bottom left side of the float bowl1Locate the float bowl drain screw and line
The pilot screw is set at the factoryEach carburetor will have slightly different pilot screw setting, the adjustments below are the recommended settings, the settings may differ from these recommendationsPilot Screw Adjustment: 2.5 Turns Out
3Connect an accurate tachometer that will read in increments ofor50 RPM such as the PET 2100DX (PN 8712100DX) or the PET 2500 (PN 8712500)Set idle speed to 1200 RPMAlways check throttle cable freeplay after adjusting idle speed and adjust if necessarySlowly turn mixture screw clockwise using the pilot screw wrench until engine begins to missSlowly turn mixture screw counterclockwise until idlespeed increases to maximum RPMContinue turning counterclockwise until idle RPM begins to dropCenter the pilot screw between the points in step and 6Re adjust idle speed if not within specification
