FRONT STRUT CARTRIDGE REPLACEMENT

1Compress spring using strut spring compressor toolsStrut Spring Compressor Tools (PN 2871573) and (PN 2871574) Hold strut rod and remove top nutRemove upper strut pivot assemblyRemove coil spring and collapse strut cartridgeRemove two pinch bolts from strut castingRemove strut cartridgeInstall cartridge until bottomed in strut castingInstall pinch bolts with wire clamp(s)Torque pinch bolts to 15 ftlbs(21 Nm)9Reassemble spring and top pivot assemblyBe sure all parts are installed properly and seated fully10Torque strut rod nut to specificationDo not over torque nutStrut Rod Nut Torque 15 ftlbs(21 Nm) 23456787Using the Ball Joint Replacement Tool (PN 2870871), remove ball joint (F) from strut housingRefer to photo 2G Install puller guide (A) with extension cap (B)G Apply grease to extension cap and threads of puller bolt to ease removalG Thread bolt (D) with nut (C) onto ball joint stud as shownG Applying heat will ease removalG Hold bolt (D) and turn nut (C) clockwise until ball joint is removed from strut housingC A
