FUEL SYSTEMFUEL INJECTION FUEL INJECTOR REPLACEMENT
1Engine must be coolDepressurize fuel system through test valve in fuel rail2Remove the front fender assembly and fuel tank3Thoroughly clean the area around and including the throttle bodymanifold and the injectors4Disconnect the fuel injector harness(s) at the ECU5Remove the fuel rail mounting screw and carefully loosenpull the rail away from the injectors6Reverse the procedures to install the new injector(s) and reassembleUse new Orings any time an injector is removed (new replacement injectors include new Orings)Lubricate Orings lightly with oil to aid installationTorque the fuel rail mounting screw to 1620 ftlbs(22.627 Nm)
CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR TEST
The crankshaft position sensor is sealed, nonserviceable assemblyIf fault code diagnosis indicates problem within this area, test and correct as follows: 1Disconnect main harness connector from ECU2Connect an ohmmeter between the pin terminalsA resistance value of 7501000 at room temperature (20_ C, 68_F) should be obtainedIf resistance is correct, check the mounting, air gap, toothed ring gear (damage, runout, etc, and flywheel key3Disconnect speed sensor connector from wiring harness(the connector with one heavy black lead) Viewing the connector with dual aligning rails on top, test resistance between the terminalsA reading of 7501000 should again be obtainedNOTE: If the resistance is incorrect, remove the screw securing the sensor to the mounting bracket and replace the sensorIf the resistance in step was incorrect, but the resistance of the sensor alone was correct, test the main harness circuit between the sensor connector terminals and the corresponding pin terminals in the main connectorCorrect any observed problem, reconnect the sensor, and perform step again
