CYLINDER HEAD INSPECTION
1Thoroughly clean cylinder head surface to
remove all traces of gasket material and carbonCAUTION: Use care nol to damage sealing surface
WARNING

Wear eye protection or face shield during cylinder head disassembly and reassembly
CYLINDER HEAD WARPAGE
1Lay straight edge (A) across the surface of the cyl inder head (B) at several different points and measure warpage by inserting feeler gauge between the straight edge and the cylinde head surlaceIf warpage exceeds the service limit,

replace the cylinder head
1Having already removed the valve coverrocker arms and pushrods, align the cylinder to be worked on at top dead centerInstall the Valve Pressure Hose (PU -45652) into the sparil plug holeHook the hose to an air compressor and supply 50 tol00 psi to the hoseThis will seat the valves during valve spring removalDo not remove air from the hose at anytime until reassembly is comp leted2Using the Valve Spring Compressor {PU-45257}compress the valve spring and remove the valve keepersNOTE: Asmall parts magnet {A} can aid in the removal of the retainers (8)
