SHIFT LINKAGE INSPECTION
NOTEShift rod is preset at time of manu facture
be smooth and lever must return freely without
binding
1Place the gear selector in neutral2Sel parking brake3Start the engine and let it idle4Tum handlebars from full light to fu ll left
If idle speed increases at any pdnt in the tuming rangeinspect throttle cable routing and conditionAdjust cable tension as needed until lockto- Iock tuming can be with no rise in engine rpmReplace the throttle cab le if wornkinked, or damagedUse medium flat blade screwdrive and insert blade into the pocket of the cove starting on the #1 position
To rem ove the ETC over1
2Twist screwdriver slightly while lifting on the cover to re lease snap31Inspect shift linkage lie rod ends, clevis pins, and Repeat procedure at the other five locations as shownNOTE: Do not attempt to remove cover until all latch points are released
pivot bushings and replace if worn or damagedLubricate the tie rod ends with light aerosol lubricant or grease2Note orientation ollie rod end studs with the ends
