MAINTENANCE
SHIFT LINKAGE INPSECTION
NOTE: Shift rod is preset at time of manufacture
Shift Linkage Rod
4Turn handlebars from full right to full leftIf idle speed increases at any point in the turning range, inspect throttle cable routing and conditionAdjust cable tension as needed until locktolock turning can be accomplished with no rise in engine rpm5Replace the throttle cable if worn, kinked, or damagedTo remove the ETC cover: 1Use medium flat blade screwdriver and insert blade into the pocket of the cover starting on the #1 position2Twist screwdriver slightly while lifting on the cover to release snap3Repeat procedure at the other five locations as shownNOTE: Do not attempt to remove cover until all latch points are released
1Inspect shift linkage tie rod ends, clevis pins, and pivot bushings and replace if worn or damagedLubricate the tie rod ends with light aerosol lubricant or grease2Note orientation of tie rod end studs with the ends that are up down (vertical)Remove both rod end bolts from transmission bell crank6
