AWD ARMATURE PLATE INSPECTION
1As the armature plate is engaged, it should contact the outer magnet pole (seal sleeve) and the inner magnet poleAlso, the armature plate must be flat when placed on flat surfaceBent armature plates should be replacedNOTE: It is not unusual to see double wear ring on the armature plate; however, the wear rings should be even2Install the roller clutch (Hilliard Clutch) assembly and be sure the armature plate (A) is positioned properlyAlso, when installing the hub assembly, be sure the armature plate tabs remain engaged with the roller clutch cageCAUTION: After the hub is installed, the slightest movement outward with the hub may cause the armature plate tabs to disengage from the roller clutch cageIf the unit is driven with the armature plate out of position, it will cause roller clutch damageArmature Plate Tabs
