ELECTRICAL Reverse Speed Limiter Operation, 19851987 Scrambler, Trail Boss, Trail Boss 4x4 When the transmission is shifted to reverse, the reverse light switch completes circuit from the battery through the key switch and into the green wire ofthe reverse speed limiter module, which is located under the splash guard near the front of the fuel tankCurrent also flows through the reverse light bulb and to the groundThe applied voltage from the battery and alternator to the speed limiter module allows the reverse limiter to ground out the ignition kill wire when predetermined voltage or signal is applied to the module from the yellow alternator wireThis signal from the alternator will interrupt the ignition by grounding out the black kill wireThe signal to ground out the ignition occurs at approximately 3200 RPMWhen the override switch circuit is opened by depressing the button on the handlebar, the module relies on the alternator voltage signal onlyThe ignition will now be interrupted at approximately 4800 RPMIf the override switch is depressed or disconnected, the signal from the alternator will interrupt the ignition at 4800 RPM with the machine in reverse or forwardThe condition of the reverse light bulb and connections must be goodIf not, the engine will be limited to 4800 RPM in reverse and forward
