ENGINES Recoil Disassembly (Late Style EC25PF-03 and Later Engines) 12345Remove four 6mm bolts securing reel housing to flywheel housingNOTE: When the last bolt is removed, the reel housing will rotate, unwinding the recoil springRemove reel housingNOTE: If rope replacement is the only service necessary, it may be replaced without any further disassemblyRemove pawl return springClamp sides of ratchet pawl bracket in the corner of the jaws of viseUsing cloth belt type strap wrench wrapped around the outside edge of the reel, unscrew the reel counterclockwise to remove it from the ratchet pawl bracket shaftRemove the ratchet pawl bracket, spring hook, ratchet friction ring and friction springNOTE: It is not necessary to remove the spring retainer plate and spring unless it is damagedClean and inspect ali partsRepair or replace as requiredClamp in vise hereUse vise corner723456
