ENGINES Recoil Disassembly (Early Style EC25PF0102 Engines) 1Remove recoil handleAllow rope to retract, and spring to totally unwind2Remove retaining nut, ratchet friction plate and ratchet pawl from reel face3Lift reel assembly straight up, out of housingNOTE: If spring tension is relieved and reel is lifted straight out, the spring will stay in the housing4Clean and inspect all partsRepair or replace as requiredRecoil Reassembly 1Reinstall spring if it was removedThe spring should spiral counterclockwise toward the center2Lubricate center shaft and spring with Polaris low temperature grease3Wind rope in counterclockwise direction around outside of reel (as viewed from the ratchet side of the reel)4Pass end of rope through rope guide and slide reel down onto shaft and springNOTE: Make sure reel tab engages hook on end of spring5Install rope handle6Reinstall ratchet pawl onto reel faceNOTE: The ratchet spring holds the ratchet in7Reinstall friction plate with one end of friction spring in the hole on the end of the ratchet pawl89Reinstall flange nut and torque to ftIbs(.7 kgm)Pull recoil rope to full extension and align notch on outside edge of reel with housing rope guide hole
