ENGINES 24Apply Loctite No515 Gasket Eliminator to both sides of the cylinder base gasketInstall the base gasket and cylinderTorque the cylinder stud nuts to 28 ft.lbs(3.9 kgm)Install the head gasket and headTorque nuts to 20 ftIbs(2.8 kgm)
When installing base gasket use gasket eliminator no515 on both sides of the base gasket
& Oil check valve
should release at to PSI 25NOTE: The crankcase groove must be thoroughly cleaned before installing the sealTIP: Gasket Chisel (PN 2870601) and small wire wheel work well for cleaning the crankcase groove(1985-1992) Place the correct sealer (Loctite 401 TM) into the groove of the crankcase and install the engine to the PVT inner cover sealRotate the seal back and forth several times to evenly distribute the sealer(1993 to Present) On all 250 models the seal is attached with screws, therefore, no adhesive is required
