ENGINES Stroke Engine Maintenance Intake Valve Clearance Adjustment
Insert .006" (.15 mm) feeler gauge between the end of the intake valve stem and the clearance adjuster screw as shown2Using 10 mm wrench and screwdriver, loosen the adjuster lock nut and turn the adjusting screw until there is slight drag on the feeler gauge3Hold the adjuster screw and tighten the adjuster lock nut to torque of 5.8 to 7.2 ftIbs using the 10mm flank drive torque adapter at 90 angle to the tdrque wrench as shownNOTE: The flank drive must be positioned at 90 angle to the torque wrench to prevent over torquing4Re-check the valve clearance5Repeat adjustment procedure if necessary until clearance is correct6Repeat this step for the other intake valve1
