ENGINES Stroke Maintenance Cleaning the Air Filter (1985-1986) The filter should be cleaned after every 25 hours of operationNew filters should be installed after every 100 hoursThe importance of clean, serviceable air filter cannot be over emphasizedIf the filter is not serviced regularly, poor performance, shortened engine life, and carburetor component wear may resultWhenever the air filter is cleaned be sure to observe the following practices: 1Never immerse the filter in waterDirt can be transferred to the clean air side of the filter2If compressed air is used, never exceed pressure of 40 PSIAlways use dispersion type nozzle to prevent filter damageClean from the inside to the outside
Dust Contamination Tap the filter lightly to remove large particlesNOTE: If the filter is contaminated with oil or water it must be replacedFilter Installation
