FINAL DRIVE SYSTEM SERVICE Strut Casting Seal Replacement 1Remove the cotter pin and castle nut (A) from trailing arm rod end (8)
CAUTION: On 1989 to present models when the A-arm ball joint is removed the CV joint can become disengagedTake care during this procedure not to disengage the drive shaft CV jOintNOTE: If the shaft becomes disengaged from the CV joint, the boot must be removed to verify ball placement before the shaft and CV joint are reassembledOn 1987 and 1988 models, remove the support arm attaching bolt (C)Remove the trailing arm rod end from the strut castingRemove the spindle and axle assembly from the strut casting bearing by pulling the strut outward as shownDrive out the old seal, taking care not to damage the tapered roller bearingInstall the new seal until it bottoms against the shoulder in the strut castingApply grease to the seal inner lip, reinstall the spindle and axle assembly5
