123456789Stop enginePlace machine in gear and set parking brakeLoosen rear wheel nuts slightlyElevate and support machine under footrestframe areaRemove wheel nutsRemove wheelsRemove both hub caps, cotter pins, nuts, cone washers, and flat washersRemove hubsRemove rear axle lock nut using 34" axle nut wrench PN 2870772Remove axle nut and washerRemove drive chain master link and drive chainPlace block of wood on the end of the axle and drive the axle out from right to leftCAUTION: Wear eye protection during this procedure10Tap locating collar on left side of axle toward the right enough to expose the circlip retainerRemove retainer and locating collar
Rear Axle Installation
123456789Slide locating collar on left end of axle with recess facing outwardInstall new circlipTap locating collar back towards left end of axle until it covers circlipApply light coat of Polaris Marine Grease (PN 2871066 to the axle and install new O-RingInsert axle from left to rightInstall O-Ring, sprocket hub, and washer Clean axle nut threadsApply Loctite 242 to threads and install axle nutTorque to 150 ftIbs(20.7 kgm)Tighten lock nut to 150 ftIbs(20.7 kgm)Rotate axle and check for smooth operationLightly grease splines of axle and install wheel hubs, flat washers, and cone washers with concave side facing flat washer10Torque hub nuts to 80 ftIbs(11.04 kgm) and install cotter pin, bending one leg of cotter pin inward and one outward against end of axle11Install hub cap12Install wheels and lub nuts with tapered side facing inTorque evenly to specifications
