TRANSMISSION SERVICE 7Install the transmission into the vehicle using the opposite procedure for removalTorque the swing arm transmission support bolt to 55 ftIbs(7.6 kgm)Re-bend the bolt locking tabsSee Chapter for swing arm side play adjustmentSome 1985-86 models may have an optional transmission torque stop kit (PN 2870707) installedIf the unit is equipped with this kit (A) adjust the stop until it contacts the transmission and then further lengthen it 12 turnsTighten the jam nutsOn 1987 to present models, adjust the stop until it contacts the transmission and then further lengthen it 112 turnTighten the jam nut1985-1990 Type Fluid Level 1The transmission lubricant level is checked by removing the check plug (1)2Add lubricant through fill hole (2) until it flows from the check plug hole
