BODY, STEERING AND SUSPENSION FOXTM Shock Maintenance 1Clean shock thoroughly to remove all dirt, oil, and greaseDry completely with compressed air2Inspect the upper and lower shock bushings and inner sleeves for wear or damage and replace if necessaryRemove the lower shock bushings and sleeve3Position and clamp lower shock mount in soft jawed vise with reservoir and shock body upright4Install shock spring compressor tool (PN 2870623)Compress spring and remove spring retainer, spring, and protector sleeve from shock body5Remove cap screw from pressure valve located in the reservoir cap
6Install safety needle into pressure gauge assemblyInstall red fitting (on the end of the safety needle assembly) squarely into the pressure valve recess7With valve outlet pointed in safe direction, depress and hold the safety release detent pin on safety needle and push gauge assembly forward to compress the unitThis will fully insert the needle through the rubber core of the pressure valveNOTE: Be sure to hold the gauge assembly at 90 angle to the pressure valve to avoid damage to the safety needleWhen pressure gauge registers zero, the shock has been de-pressurized
