3INSPECTIONADJUSTMENT CYLINDER HEAD
CYLINDER COMPRESSION Warm up the engine before compression testRemove the spark plugInstall compression gauge and adapterSpecial Tool: Compression Gauge Adapter, M10 1.057001-1486 (Kawasaki) Open the throttle valve fully and push the starter button to test the compressionCompression (electric start): 11701580 kPa (1216 kgfcm, 170230 psi) If the compression is low, check for the following:Leaky valvesValve clearance too smallLeaking cylinder head gasketWorn piston ringsWorn pistoncylinder If the compression is high, it indicates that carbon deposits have accumulated on the combustion chamber and the piston headVALVE CLEARANCE Inspect and adjust valve clearance while the engine is cold (below 35C)Disconnect the breather hose at the cylinder head coverRemove the four bolts and cylinder head coverBolts Adapter
