Fuel Level Sensor Inspection
Remove: Fuel Pump (see Fuel Pump Removal in Fuel System chapter) Check that the float moves up and down smoothly without bindingIt should go down under its own weight If the float does not move smoothly, replace the fuel pump assembly Using hand tester [A], measure the resistance across the terminals in the fuel pump lead connector [8]Special ToolHand Tester: 57001-1394
Oln contrast to the normal measuring method, the current that flows through the gauge when measuring it with tester is very low, thus making the measurement easily affected by the oxidized film of the resistance plate, and resulting in excessive resistanceTherefore, make sure to wipe the resistance plate with alcohol before taking measurement
