Rear Axle Runout Inspection
If the axle is damaged or bent, replace it
Visually inspect the axle for damage
Set the rear axle in an alignment jig or on blocks, and place dial gauge [A] against the middle point Turn the axle slowlyThe difference between the highest and lowest dial gauge readings is the axle runout (TIR)If the runout exceeds the service limit, replace the axleRear Axle Shaft Runout Standard: TIR mm (0.04 in or less Service Limit: TIR mm (0.08 in
