11-10 WHEELSTIRES Tires
Tire Removal
Remove the wheel Unscrew the valve core to deflate the tireOUse proper valve core tool [A]
Lubricate the tire beads and rim flanges on both sides of the wheel with soap and water solution, or water [A] This helps the tire beads slip off the rim flanges
CAUTION
Do not lubricate the tire beads and rim flanges with engine oil or petroleum distillates because they will deteriorate the tire Remove the tire from the rim using suitable commercially available tire changerHJ06005BS C

tires cannot be removed with hand tools because they fit the rims tightly
Tire Installation
Inspect the rim (see Wheel (Rim) Inspection) Replace the air valve with new one
CAUTION
Replace the air valve with whenever the tire is replacedDo not reuse the air valve Check the tire for wear and damage (see Tire Inspection in Periodic Maintenance chapter) Lubricate the tire beads and rim flanges with soap and water solutionor water
