Fuel Pump Inspection
Fuel Pump Supply Voltage Inspection: Turn the ignition switch OFF RemoveSeat Fuel Pump Lead Connector [Aj Connect hand tester [Bj with suitable leads [C] as shownHand Tester (+) Fuel Pump Connector (BR) Terminal Hand Tester (-) Fuel Pump Connector (BKR) Terminal Tu rn the ignition switch ON, and run the engine with the transmission in neutral Measure the fuel pump supply voltageFuel Pump Supply Voltage Standard: near the Battery Voltage
If the reading is not as specified, replace the igniterIf the reading is as specifiedcheck the fuel pump
Fuel Pump Operational InspectionRemove: Fuel Pump (see Fue System chapter) Prepare container filled with kerosene Prepare the rubber hoses, and connect them to the pump fitting Con nect suitable pressure gauge to the outlet hose as shown Fuel Pump [Aj Pressu re Gauge [B] Outlet Hose [C] Kerosene [OJ Battery [E (12V) Con nect the pum leads to the battery using auxil iary wi res as show nBattery (+) Fuel Pump Connector (BR) Terminal Battery (-) Fue Pump Con nector (BKlR) TerminalIf th pump does not operatethe pump is defectiveReplace the fuel pumpIfthe pump operates is normal, close the outlet hose while operating th fuel pump When the pump stops, read the pressure gauge If the pressure gauge reading is out of the specified pressurethe pump is defectiveReplace the fuel pump
