FINAL DRIVE 12-53 Front Final Gear Case
OThe tooth contact patterns of both (drive and coast) sides should be centrally located between the top an bottom of the toothThe drive pa ttern can be little clo ser to the toe and the coast pattern can be somewhat longer and closer to the toe If th tooth contact pattern is incorrect, replace the ring gear shim(s), following the exam ples shown Then erase the tooth contact pattern an check them againAlso check the backlash every time the shim (s) are replacedRepeat the shim change procedu re as necessary
OJ( the backlash is out of the standard range after changing the ring gear shim(s), change the pinion gear shim(s) to correct the backlash before checking the tooth contact pattern
