5-14 ENGINE TOP END Rocker Case
Rocker Case Removal
Front Rocker Case: Remove: Air Cleaner Cover (see Frame chapter) Front Fender (see Frame chapter) Inner Cover Rear (see Frame chapter) Recoil Starter (see Recoil Starter chapter) Tim ing Inspection Plug [A] Valve Adj usting Caps Using wrench on the alternator bo lt, turn the cranksh aft counterclockwise until "T-F" mark [A] is aligned with the notch [B] in the inspection win dow, and the cam lobes are pointing away from the rocker arms: the end of the compression stroke
CAUTION
Be sure to positi on the cran kshaft at TDC of he end of the compression stroke when removing or installing the rocker case The rocker arms could bend the valves Remove: Front Camshaft Chain Te nsioner (see Camshaft Chai Tensioner Removal) Rocker Case Bolts [A] Front Rocker Case [B] Lift th rocker case clea of the dowel pins in the cylinder head and slide th rocker ca se out of the frame
