Starter Motor Armature Inspection
Measure the resistance between each segment [A] and all the othersIf the resistance is too high or even infinite, the armature winding has an open circuitReplace the starter motor Measure the resistance between the commutator and the armature shaft [8]If the resistance is less than infinite, the armature is shortedReplace the starter motorSpecial ToolHandTester: 57001-1394
Brush Assembly Inspection
Measure the resistance between the negative( -) brush [A] and the plate If the resistance is greater than 0, replace the brush plate assembly Measure the resistance between the positive (+) brush [8] and the plate If the resistance is less than infinite, replace the brush assemblySpecial ToolHand Tester; 570011394
Terminal Bolt Inspection
Measure the resistance between the terminal bolt [AJ and the positive (+) brush [8] If the resistance is greater than 0, replace the brush plate assembly Measure the resistance between the terminal bolt and the right end cover [C]If the resistance is less than infinite, replace the brush plate assemblySpecial ToolHand Tester; 570011394
