ELECTRICAL SYSTEM 15-13
AC Lighting Voltage Measurement
The condition of the lighting coil of magneto is determind by measuring the voltage of the AC outputNOTE

aPerform test with the headlight and taillight connected-Remove the front fender cover (see Frame chapter)_Connect the hand tester (special tool) using auxiliary leads as shown-Set the tester to the 25 AC range
AStator Connector

BHand Tester: 57001-1394

If the tester does not read as specified, replace the magneto statorIf the coil has normal resistance, but the voltage inspection shows the magneto to be defective, the flywheel magnets have probablY weakenedReplace the flywheel
Cooling Fan System

Fan System Circuit Inspection
If the fan does not run when the coolant is hot enough, check the cooling fan systemeVisually inspect the radiator fanIf the fan blades or shroud are damaged, replace the fan assembly-Pull off the fan switch leads, and short-circuit them with suitable lead-Start the engineIf the fan turns, inspect the fan switch (see Fan Switch Inspection) If the fan does not turn, check the wiring, fan motor, fan motor, rectifier, fan motor voltage, and magneto stator as follows
