If the arcing tester is not available, the coil can be checked for broken or badly shorted winding with the hand tester (special tool: PIN 57001-1394)However, the tester cannot detect layer shorts and shorts resulting from insulation breakdown under high voltageeOisconnet the primary lead from the coil terminalseMeasure the primary winding resistanceoConnect the hand tester between the coil terminalsaSet the tester to the range, and read the metereMeasure the secondary winding resistanceoPul1 the spark plug cap off the leadoConnect the hand tester between the spark plug lead and terminalaSet the tester to the kn range, and read the meterExciter Coil Resistance Range:
