eMeasure rear axle shaft runout by supporting the shaft on blocks and setting dial gauge against the shaft at each point showneTurn the axle shaft slowlyThe difference between the highest and lowest dial gauge readings is the axle runoutIf the runout exceeds the service limit, replace the axle shaft
Rear Axle Bearing Removal Notes
eRemove the bearing housing (see Bearing Housing Removal)eRemove the grease seals and the rear axle bearings in the same way as front hub bearing removal (see Front Hub Bearing Removal Notes in the WheelsTires chapter)
Rear Axle Shaft Runout Standard: Service Limit: under 0.02 mm 0.2mm
