ELECTRIC STARTER
TROUBLESHOOTING
The starter motor should operate when the transmission is in neutral or when the transmission is in drive and the foot brake or parking brake is appliedStarter motor does not tum 1Fuse Inspection Check for blown main fuse (30 A) or START fuse (10 A)
Is the fuse blown?
YES NOReplace the fuse- GO TO STEP 2
2Battery Inspection Check that the battery is fully charged and in good condition
Is the battery in good condition?
YES NOGO TO STEP 3- Charge the battery (page 21 -6)
3Starter Relay Switch Operation Inspection Check the operation of the starter relay switch (page 23-12)
Does the starter relay switch click?
YES NOGO TO STEP 4- GO TO STEP 5
4Starter Motor Inspection Turn the ignition switch to OFF (0)Apply battery voltage to the starter motor directly
Does the starter motor turn?
YES NOPoorly connected starter motor cable Faulty starter relay switch (page 23-1 3)- Faulty starter motor (page 23-6)
