The PCM may be damaged if droppedAlso, if the connector is disconnected when current is flowing, the excessive voltage may damage the PCMIECMAlways turn the ignition switch to OFF before servicing Use spark plugs with the correct heat rangeUsing spark plugs with an incorrect heat range can damage the engine
Some electrical components may be damaged if terminals or connectors are connected or disconnected while the ignition switch is ON and current is present When servicing the ignition system, always follow the steps in the troubleshooting chart (page 22-4) This ignition system is controlled by PCM The transistorized igniti on system uses an electrically controlled ignition timing systemNo adjustments can be made to the ignition timing faulty ignition system is often related to poor connectionsCheck those connections before proceed ing Make sure the battery is adequately charged Using the starter motor with weak battery results in slower engine cranking speed as well as no spark at the spark plug CKP sensor removalinstallation (page 11-5) Ignition switch servicing (page 24-7) Main relay inspection (page 6-38)
