Check the boot for cu ts or other damageCheck that the joint moves smooth ly without binding or noise
OPERATION CHECK
Temporarily install the propeller shaftTurn the pinion gear and check that the gear turns smoot hly and quietly without bindingIf the gears do not turn smoothly or quietly, the gears andor bearing may be damaged or fau ltyThey must be checked after disassembly; replace them if necessary Check the differential lock change-over mechanism while turning the pinion gear; both differential shafts in the gear case should turn each other when the differential lock arm is In the lock posit ionand the right shaft should not turn wh en the lock arm is in the unlock (lock freepos ition:
